Seriously... These are some tracks that live rent free in my head. LOL, I know, I know, I listen to everything and anything great throughout time and this is gonna be an eclectic set of tracks so bear with me here yeah? First up, Lebanon Hanover with their stellar track from 2013, "Gallowdance." Enjoy the first one here on the gothic front and we'll meet up under this one for the next, m'kay? See ya there in a minute! Enjoy!
Up next, from the one and only, Trent Reznor aka Nine Inch Nails! From the throwback days of my teenage years (lol holy fuck I'm gettin' old) and the exact year is, 1996. We're going with the fantastic song from the David Lynch movie Lost Highway soundtrack, "The Perfect Drug." Yep, we're going there! Enjoy! See you again below. I'll be a new character like Bill Pullman in Lost Highway hehe :)
Now, from one of the OGs of the hip hop community and its upper echelon of artists, we have Danny Brown! His new album Quaranta (40 in Italian btw) from a month ago this year is fucking fire! Here's the first and most bad ass single, "Tantor." There is a warning but I'll throw on here too just in case, be warned that there are a LOT of flashing lights in this one. So anyone with epileptic light issues I'm telling you now. At any rate, enjoy and we'll see each other again in a moment here! This is going to be a playlist of sorts as I said. Hope you're with me for the long haul!
Another far flung past date here... We're onto one of my all time favorite artists! They are the glorious Ween! Now, the US scene didn't pop off for Ween until this album in 2000 sadly. I was always down with Ween but only my Australian brothers and sisters loved Ween as much as I did pre 2000 and this album White Pepper. It got a lot of play on college radio and you know how that goes here, the hipsters came out in droves pissing us off. Now, Ween is a fuckin' household name here now for music lovers and they've even been a SOLID replacement for my favorite band to follow around the US and Europe, The Grateful Dead. I followed them when I should have been taking high school seriously lol. I loved Jerry and the entirety of the lovely members of The Grateful Dead and Ween, they're a "modern" alternative to that vibe in the best ways possible that you could link the two! But enough of that lol! Here's the track "She's Your Baby" and it's a beauty! Enjoy! See you in another few minutes! A few more only, I promise :3
Now for some serious and lovingly soulful music from my main Canadian love aka Leslie Feist or Feist if you will :) This, is a doozy of a track. Not to be taken lightly and this is kind of an apology to all of you SGs, hopefuls and members that I talk with here and on other "sites" and social media :) You're all loves of mine in different ways and varying definitions of "love." I mean that in the least creepy or parasocial way I swear hehe <3 I'm apologizing because I've been remiss in my member "duties" to comment, like and promote your amazing and lovely work! I know, it's kind of trivial but, you mean a LOT to me and I think of you ladies always. This one goes out to a lot of you, I'll tag you at the bottom with some gents too but this song, it's for the ladies I tag. Gents, you'll be getting a track too! So please, stay tuned here and it'll be coming up either next or soon in this playlist from my brain aka hell lol! Enjoy the sweet and loving track "So Sorry" from Feist and her 2008 Polydor (France) release, The Reminder. A monumental album if there ever was one! See you in a few minutes again!
Gents that I'll be tagging, it's your time! We're going with a gold standard track of mine from one of my all time favorite bands and one of the monsters of the alternative rock scene not only here in Chicago, their home turf but in the world. That's right, if you know me, you know it's going to be The Smashing Pumpkins! What track do you think I'm going to throw all us gents into collectively? Well, it's a cover song... It's from the GOOD version/release (European) of Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness or the box set The Aeroplane Flies High (An extremely hard to find these days box set btw and I have that and the impossible to find Euro Mellon Collie on vinyl too) and that glorious track is the phenomenal cover of Alice Cooper's track "Clones (We're All)" so enjoy because this is the male condition in a lot of ways I feel lol. Enjoy everyone but, especially the gents I'll be tagging! Look for your names below and a cheers/nostrovia/prost/salut to you all gents! See ya after the track everyone! Finals coming up!!
This next one... Shit... Sorry and please, please don't feel bad about what I'm about to say here okay? Promise? Good! This song is a small idea into who I am. This is an encapsulation of how I've always felt in my life. No matter how good or bad things were, I'm this kind of sad person. It's crazy I know... Still, this song hits all the truths of who I am as well as those who wrote this gem. The bad and the things I WANT badly to have and love but just haven't found yet. So, on that depressive note, I give you the heart wrenching track that is still glorious, "Soul To Squeeze" off The Coneheads soundtrack by the well loved by many band, Red Hot Chili Peppers. Enjoy even though I told you what it means to me. I feel, like a lot of you might feel these ways too. I feel you, seriously. Here's the track and we've got two more and I'm out! Enjoy, seriously!
Well this is a metal lovers classic! Here we go back to a time when I was a little ass kid lol. In "ye olden days" of 1981 a fucking monstrously influential band and album hit the scene and with their first singer (there's a little hint for ya) fronting the band at this time, the album was indeed, killer... You see what I did there? LOL, from the every awesome band that is Iron Maiden, the fucking banger from the album Killers, "Wrathchild" with good old Paul on vocals! I LOVED HIM in Iron Maiden! Anyways, it's the official video from The Rainbow in California live, so enjoy this old but still fucking killer (hehe) track from Iron Maiden! One more after this, then the tags for the ladies and gents okay? See you in a few minutes again!
Last official track of the playlist1 Wow! Well this track, I feel is a great and solid message for all of us to take to heart yeah? No matter who you are! This is a wonderful and delightful track with poignant lyrics from the incomparable Aldous Harding! Off her 2019 album Designer, I give you all, "The Barrel" and I hope if you know it or not, you'll glean the message that's in it! It's truly awe inspiring and inspirational all in one. Truly glorious! Enjoy! Tags and final thoughts/words coming after this! See you there and again, enjoy!
*Whew* what a list huh?! I hope you've enjoyed your time here with me on this night. Tomorrow is a still fresh and sad day for me. I'm not going into it right now. Some of you know, some don't, we'll talk about it another time. I struggled to be happy today and the next two days will indeed be bitter (19th) and then bittersweet (20th) for me. But knowing all of you and meeting new people over my many years here, I can honestly say, you're some of the people that have made my continuing to survive all the better by magnitudes of order! Seriously, you're all fucking awesome and people I truly hold dear to my heart okay? REMEMBER that always! So, I bid you adieu on this evening (it's early evening here in the Chi and it's fucking cold lol) and I'm off to make some hot chocolate with a good spiking of Bailey's Irish Cream (Salted Caramel yum!) in it! I highly recommend it if you've never had the salted caramel on in the hot cocoa, it's divine :) Here come the shout outs/tags for the ladies then the gents! Cheers all, without you, I'm less of a whole human being and I mean that! I love ya my SG fam! Happy holidays and I should be here before New Years to say happy New Years and throw some tracks up! Either way, see ya all soon! Tag time!
The ladies that I posted Feist "So Sorry" for are: @haub @olgakulaga @akiramai @lorry @neyona @headshot @bluenicorn @rare @shameless @doncella @alexislust @nug @avecalluna @brisen @narublu @jadestone @nerestorm @psyria_delight @belladona @bookcouple and there are others but you all are the sweetest, most amazing and loving friends a person could hope for. I am apologizing with that song, like I said due to my absence as of this year as far as interaction goes outside of my music posts. It's shitty of me and my resolution for 2024 dealing with the SG site at least, is to get back into the community and spread as much love and good vibes as I can! You're all the absolute fucking best and you're all loved by me at the very least! Not that you need it lol, but hey, I hope it counts for something! Kisses and hugs to you ladies! You deserve them and so much more from me! My debt of gratitude is vast! Love ya all!
Gents that I posted "Clones (We're All)" by Smashing Pumpkins for are: @zweitesich @weedfarmer @therustycheez @kungfury @bob_dylan @boozenblood @fredhincanada and there are others I know there are lol (forgive me gents and I'll edit when I think about this more)! Some of you men, I just met recently and I am glad I did and some of you are older friends here that I've always enjoyed being in contact with and a few of you, I apologize for not being in contact in a long ass time. The last 5 years have been tough to the older friends in the gent category so please, know I sincerely apologize for my absence in your lives. Truly, you're fantastic people and NEVER FORGET THAT! I have mad respect for each of you and I'll be more interactive with you all too!
Well, that's that folks! I am getting outta here! Music to work on late into the night for me. I'm working on an Industrial Bass/Dark Clubbing/Death Synth remix of Old Dirty Bastard's fire track "Baby I Got Your Money" (strange right?!) and if it goes the way I am thinking of doing it, it's gonna fucking SLAP lol! Much love and many thanks and gratitude to you all! Have a happy holiday week coming up and see you before New Years hopefully all! You're all the fucking best! Take care SG fam!
Bonus track?! What?? Haha! A weird one here, short and sweet (if you like this kinda work). From a very strange but amazing dude here in the US! His first project was this here Melted Cassettes and it's the category of Noise Thrash Electro lol! Yeah, it's fucking amazing in my opinion and I hope you dig this song off the first album The Real Sounds From The Hell Recordings from Halloween of 2011, the track "Pushing Buttons." If you like it, I HIGHLY recommend this project and check it out wherever you listen to music okay!? If you wanna know about his new project which is highly Dark Ambient and I'll clue you in! It's certainly a departure from this project but still highly evil and fuckin' dark lol. Okay! Enjoy, hopefully lol and see ya all soon!
Yeah, the album cover is fucked lol! I love it! See ya!
