Sigh.
Okay, normally I loathe politics. Corporate, governmental, office, it doesn't fucking matter - it almost always feels like the people who do it just don't have either the balls to come out and say what's really on their minds or the ability to earn the power to sway people to their faces, but still just HAVE to try to fuck with someone else anyway. If Shakespeare wrote Julius Caesar in a modern setting, I guarantee you that Brutus and Cassius would cut ol' Jules down with a water cooler in the background. It's all backstabbing bullshit while trying to pretend it's cleaner with only metaphorical blood on your hands.
And then, we have people who are so offended by the desecration of the US flag, that they want to change the constitution to outlaw it.
Okay, ignoring whether I think that desecrating the flag should be illegal - and I don't - this law just strikes me as wrong-headed. People burn the flag as much to get attention as to protest, and this amendment would guarantee free publicity for each and every person that takes a Bic to the Stars and Stripes.
More flags'll burn than be saved... even if you like the idea of keeping the flag free from harm, the best thing to do is ignore the prick trying to piss you off by doing it. This amendment, if it passes, will just add fuel to the fire...
