So today I find out that someone else in the company is leaving a position that's essentially identical to my own, but for a more prestigious line. Now, given the load of BS coming in from the bosses - to say nothing of how the company itself thinks of me - you'd think I'd stay away.

Nope. Sent them a letter begging for it.
