Chicago-based update!
1. Table Fifty-Two was less than hoped for. It was *fine.* But I wanted more than fine. I have a new policy against "upscale comfort food" I think. I've had better fried green tomatoes down here in Hyde Park, and for much cheaper (and a bigger portion). To be honest, the tomatoes weren't even that *green.*
2. Last night, we ate at La Madia. The olives were amazing, and the pizza was killer. They also had the very tasty Allagash White. I'm a sucker for white beers. The waitresses were hot too, as a bonus.
3. I plan to stuf myself on all you can eat sushi for lunch.
4. I decided to email my advisor about articles we've stopped working on. This is my 2nd attempt to revitalize these projects. I was pissed that he dropped the ball when I contacted him at winter break, and was to the point of saying "fuckit." But a colleague convinced me to reach out again. Damn Catholic guilt. (But really, I need to suck it up. I need the pubs more than him. So I need to man up.)
5. I miss the bookstores, y'all. I picked up The Windup Girl by Paolo Bacigalupdi. I love non-Western science fiction!
6. It was wonderfully foggy last night.
7. My wife almost got hit by a car on Sunday, because a driver was not watching as we walked through the crosswalk. Last night, our bus hit a car. This is a rough traveling week.
8. I'm getting work done in the afternoons, and that's a plus.
9. I think I am going to eat cold pizza at 10am because I am starving.
10. That's all I got, really. Oh: I am way behind on music. There is new Gorillaz, Ted Leo, and Broken Bells out today. Plus I'm still looking to pick up the new Yeasayer and Charlotte Gainsbourg. I'm so behind. But I refuse to just pick stuff up. I like to buy something, listen to it for a while, and then indulge again. The idea of an album "falling through the cracks" makes me sad.
