Would anyone be hurt if I just ate pretzels for dinner?
Tomorrow, I fly on the jetplane back to the joyously flat Midwest. I am super excited. On Sunday, we're eating at TableFifty-Two. I am stupidly excited for this.
The rest of this post is about LOST, minor spoilers etc.
Just two random thoughts, really complaints (but little niggling ones):
1. I was really glad they left the temple last night because I sort of hate it. It looks cheap, and I have no sense of its geography. I don't understand why people keep coming out of that door like it opens on to somewhere, when everyone is just chilling in a courtyard that appears to be open to the jungle. I also hated how people kept leaving and dropping in on the temple. Wasn't leaving a big deal, like once you left you couldn't come back? The way people kept "just missing each other" in their entrances and exits was a little Three's Company/comedy of manners for me.
2. I hope they give some explanation for why the island is like Neverland/a really awful D&D module. The island contains, at minimum: a lighthouse, caves, a beach, a radio tower, a hatch, a series of Dharma stations, a 70s suburban village, a pirate ship, a temple, an underground altar, and a ruined giant statue. Oh, and two crashed airplanes plus a submarine. And animal cages. It's like Myst come to life. At some point ... that got kinda hokey.
Ok, I lied, third random thought:
3. I really hope that Dogen wasn't serious when he said he was testing Sayid to see how "good" or "evil" he was. If that's the metaphysics the show is working with ..... that's dumb. I hope Dogen was just misinformed/misled/lying again. We shall see.
Otherwise, I continue to be intrigued! I'm not sure there any REAL answers coming honestly, but I love the ride.
