Yeah, okay, so I need to update my journal more frequently. What can I say? I'm no synapse. But I have balls, which I use for awesome.

So I'm pretty angry about Slug. That's synapse's computer, which usually hums along happily atop my own machine, named Feynman. Today Slug got a sweet new video card, an Nvidia GeForce FX5950, which apparently made a particular electrolytic capacitor on the motherboard jealous. So this asshole capacitor bursts, the motherboard is toast, and Slug is useless.

Now where did I put that motherboard receipt / proof of purchase / manual / box / warranty card / etc?

That sucks, but at least it sounds like that video card got delivered. Without knowing anything about her computer, I'd say don't put a new mb in there until you get a new psu. I've seen several motherboards blow capacitors because of a failing/bad/overworked psu, and I bet that new card guzzles power like an SUV.

Spec's downtown is having a cheese festival this Thurs. - Sat. If you and synapse want to come with Warren and myself just call or IM me. Look for the flyer with this week's Kroger/HEB ads.

Hey, good call Batman. I got a new mobo today and the old PSU won't even spin up the fans. I had a PSU go once before and it did the same thing; the mobo "power ok" LED goes on but nothing else.

Good thing microcenter is having a sale -- 400W for $20.
