Wouldnt it make more sense if children took their mothers last name as their middle name and a women never took her husbands last name?
Wouldnt this make lineage tracing easier?
I mean why do we have middle names anyway? Just to make thing more specific. Last names have no purpose other that that you rarely ever know anyones last name, its just there to make a persons name more specific. So in this new kind of naming convention that property would be preserved and a new one added.
I keep coming up with little things like this that we should implement in society but dont.
Versions of the textbooks that are used in public schools should be published on the web in *.pdf format so as to allow children to have the option of not carrying the books home at night. Children's heavy backpacks are a leading caase of back problems in this country which the schools are directly responsible for. This serious problem is widely overlooked.
The sports and music industries should be taxed by 50% and the revenue should be put to education and rehabilitation (of drug users, alcoholics, and homeless people).
Its not like entertainment industries are so vital anyway, certainly not as much as education and rehab!!!!
Gay, as well as chain marriage should be legal.
And as for the work week:
9-5 should simply be abolished, flexible hours should be implemented everywhere. The world week should be reduced to 4 days in a society such as ours where higher emphasis is based on intellectual labor than physical labor.
Marijuana and prositution should be legalized so as to be taxed and regulated, since people are indulging anyways.
There should be a guy in every company called the optimizer who creates new jobs and eliminates obsolete ones.
People should be encouraged to telecommute and carpool more often.
Cars should all be half-electric yesterday. Can you think of any reason why a car should have to go over 60 miles an hour? I cant.
The amount of sugar per square inch of something should be kept below a certain parameter.
Above ground electricity should be band.
The FCC should put pressure on the computer industry to implement VR gloves and do away with the un-ergonomic keyboard.
An even greater pressure needs to be placed on recycling and scientific research of alternative sources of power. Something like NASA should be implemented whose sole aim is to protect the long-term condition of the environment of our nation.
The armed forces should be downsized and the US should concern its-self less in general with world politics. Then things like 911 would stop happening.
Counseling and medical services should be government subsidized based on the money that is saved by downsizing the military. If the State will provide you with a lawyer, why not a doctor?
Every neighborhood in the country should have a community center.
SIDEWALKS should be mandatory in ever neighborhood in America.
People should receive a government subsidy for using solar power panels on their roofs to heat the water in their homes.
Any initiative should exist to move all the old computers from the middle class homes down into the lower class homes of America, as opposed to the current policy of throwing away 2+ year old computer hardware and software.
Internet access should be considered as vital as water and electricity and should be built into in all homes. The only question should be which provider to pay, not how to get online.
This is just off the top of my head things that should be implemented immediately that wouldnt cause any large underlying shifts in society. If we do all of these things then maybe we can go on pretending to be the most advanced and progressive society in the world. Until then how blind can we be to believe that we are such a thing???
