He Wishes His Beloved Were a Lesbian
Were you but a lesbian,
I'd not suffer this dreadful curse
Of thoughts of you with other men
And lying in their arms, or worse.
I know that they don't deserve you.
But if you liked women instead
My heart would not be filled with dread
That the reason you always flew
From my declarations of love
And brushed me off time and again
Wasn't that I'm not good enough;
It was only that I'm a man.
But as things stand I can't help but wonder:
Was I the reason we were torn asunder?
_____
(I like to think that I'd have the decency to not fall in love with a lesbian. Or at least I'd be able to understand why she didn't love me.)
As promised, here's some photos of the destruction in my neighborhood.
This is the neighbor's willow tree. Yes, those are power lines. They didn't remove this until Sunday afternoon.
This next one is in their back yard. They had it cleaned up before I got home that day, so I couldn't get a picture of how large the tree was. But it almost hit their house.
Finally, we've gotten to my poor maple tree. You can't tell very well from the picture, but one of those branches hanging there is about 30 ft. long. It's a big maple - 60 ft. or so. Hopefully the whole thing won't have to come down.
So that's that.
