This came in the mail today:
My scanner is broken, so I had to use my camera. It's difficult to read, so here's a transcription.
Hamline University
On Recommendation of the Faculty of the
College of Liberal Arts
The Trustees of Hamline University have conferred upon
Nathan [middle and last names]
the Degree of
Bachelor of Arts
With Distinction in Mathematics
Magna Cum Laude
with all the rights, honors, and privilges thereunto appertaining.
In Witness Whereof, the Seal of the University and the
signatures of its officers are hereunto affixed.
Given at St. Paul, in the State of Minnesota, this 21st day of May, 2005,
in the University's 151st year.
[Signatures and the University Seal]
Yay! The Distinction in Mathematics is the departmental honors I received for over a year of work on my honors project, "On the Determination of a Curve by its Curvatures."
For those not familiar with the Latin honors, Magna Cum Laude means my GPA was greater than or equal to 3.75, but less than 3.9. It was actually 3.81.
I'm also a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
I actually had a reason for all that bragging. Despite all that which shows I'm something of an above average, dedicated student, the last couple of days I've been terribly afraid that I'll never get into grad school because I'm not good enough.
I'll just have to keep trying until I get accepted.
