Terrible news. The Minnesota Public Radio Morning Show is going off the air December 11. This is awful. I've listened to the Morning Show for almost 10 years. They play music you can't hear anywhere else. I can't explain it; you need to check out their playlists to see how eclectic they are. I heard Roy Rogers and Dale Evans this morning. They also do funny skits.
But Jim Ed Poole (aka Tom Keith; he's also the sound effects provider for A Prairie Home Companion) is retiring. And apparently the station can't be bothered to find someone to take over for him.
Now what am I going to listen to in the morning? Tom Barnard? Ugh! I'd be pissed off before my day even got started. The man is an asshole. No KQ until after 9 AM, thanks.
No, I like the MPR Morning Show. The guys aren't rude, there's no politics, nobody spouting opinions that are mostly bull shit.
I usually switch back and forth between MPR and kool 108 (the oldies station), depending on commercials and what's playing. Now I'm done to one station!
I may have to give up on morning radio, and find a netcast to listen to during the commute. But then what would I listen to at work, if I listened to all my netcasts in the car?
Tragedy, tragedy, tragedy! Oh, Morning Show!
Update:
I just found this photo.

Gelfling?
