I went to the Science Museum yesterday and saw the Star Wars exhibit. It was pretty good. A mix of movie memorabilia and explanations of current technologies that resemble those in the movies. Robotics, prosthetics, mag lev trains. Some cool stuff.
Otherwise there's not much going on. Saw my friends' baby for the first time last night. My friend hurt his back a couple of years ago and is fairly well crippled; they implanted to pain killer pump, but the meds were off at first and made him highly paranoid and unstable, and with his depression under the best of circumstances we haven't seen him much lately. But he called me up Friday and I went over there yesterday, and he seems like he's doing quite a bit better. I think the new baby is good for him.
There was a sparrow in the stairwell at work on Friday. I tried to herd it outside, but it panicked and fell in a narrow gap between the stairs and the wall. I tried to get it out, but couldn't, so I felt pretty bad about it being stuck in there until it died. I worried about it all morning, and made a miniature version of the poles used by animal control using string and newspaper. I figured I could get the loop around it and pull it out.
Barring that, I was worried I'd have to crush its little bird head. Better than dying of dehydration.
Luckily it must have found a way to work its way out, because it wasn't there when I checked at noon.
Well, off to catch up on my recorded television!
