I like camping. Scratch that, I LOVE camping. So this weekend Carol, Jenna, Jess, and I packed up and headed into the mountains.
We spent the first night in Anza Borrego during the HUGE ASS rainstorm that came through on Thursday night. It got down to almost freezing temperatures but, thankfully, cigarettes and Stoli kept us warm. We got to hear a pack of coyotes howling in the middle of the night (awesome) and we also got to test if the new tent really was waterproof. I'm happy to report that not only does it keep water out, it also keeps any liquor spilled inside in.
The next morning, we washed the hobo smell out of the tent floor and packed the car up. After a 30 minute drive we had left the barren desert and arrived in the mountains next to a beautiful lake. There was plenty of fall color in the leaves and lots of mountain lion warning signs. Sadly, we did not see any bobcats or mountain lions, but we did see coyotes, foxes, and some raccoon pawprints on our table when we woke up the next morning... along with the crapload of mess they made out of the few things we left out. After the area was cleaned and the drinks were poured again we roasted marshmallows, ate some chocolate, and went on a few hikes to enjoy the scenery and the fresh air. We got to skinny dip in the lake and I coined the phrase "My tits could cut glass right now." when we got out of the 55 degree water (not my best choice but certainly not my worst, either). A fun time was had by all and the smell of hobo is currently being washed out of all the blankets and clothes. Fuck yeah, nature!!!
