So, today at work, I was listening to CKUA (Which, for all the non-albertans out there is a listener supported radio station that plays some cool music.) and all of a sudden it goes dead. Strange, but this type of thing has happened before, so I figure it'll just come back.
After about a minute or so, this alarm sounds over the radio. I figured, maybe the DJ was away from the booth and the cd player went down and there is an alarm to alert her. I guess not.
The alarm stops, and this voice comes in through the static
"this is the alberta emergency broadcast service. Please stand by for a message that my affect your area."
So I run over to the radio to turn it up and listen intently to the announcement
"This is a test of the alberta emergency broadcast service, had this been a blah blah blah."
There was a part of me that was really excited to find out that something was going horribly wrong, and that my life might be changed forever. I was partially worried, cause I didn't know what had happened, but also I was excited to witness a big change in my world. It was quite a rush, and although I was a little dissapointed that it was only a test, I was a little relieved, and definitely glad to have experienced just a glimpse of disaster.

My deep fasination with weather and the hopes of one day experincing just what it was like to live through a tornato or hurricane, or even just a really big snow storm.
The snowstorms here just dont meet my expectations.
I have had so many dreams about earthquakes though...but i think that i should re-think the going out and finding the disaters. There has got to be something alittle more tame and alittle less death defiying...
