WARNING, THIS JOURNAL ENTRY CONTAINS A GEEKY VIDEO GAME REVIEW, IF YOU ARE A GIRL WHO I'D POSSIBLY LIKE TO SLEEP WITH PLEASE PRETEND I'M WRITING ABOUT MY WORK OUT AT THE GYM OR THE TIME I SAVED A BOX OF KITTENS FROM A FURNACE!
Alas and alack, my newest venture into the survivor-horror realm, embodied as Fatal Frame II, is not as scary as it has been hyped to be. I know saying that makes me sound like some jerk-off trying to sound tough, and granted the game has given me a few starts, but the fact is that I was really expecting more. Maybe it's my fault? I mean, Silent Hill 2 had me literally screaming at certain points, and Silent Hill 3 was simply shockingly disturbing at times... but most of Fatal Frames ghosts are just look like regular people with terrible complexions.
The game revolves around two twins, Mayu and Mio, two typical Japanese girls with short skirts, eyes that encompass roughly half their face, and the kind of flouncy and depthless personalities that'll eventually make you racist and hateful. I mean, yeah, it's great that they're not highly dangerous stealth government ninja commandos but, for God sake, you can over-work the "Regular Joe Schmoo" scheme. Oh yeah, and you know you're in trouble when you're told the two characters are twins, but then read in the manual that one is older than the other. Am I mistakenly believing that in order to be an identical twin you have to be born at the SAME TIME!? God, you know what? I'm not even going to try working that out, instead I'm going to do something less painful like stick my dick in the oven.
Asides from that, and annoying controls, and the annoying lack of camera control, and ... well that's pretty much it. Asides from that, it's a solid game! I'd say why, but I'm not getting paid to review this game!
