Last Tuesday was a very turbulent day for us. When I came home for lunch, one of the rabbits wouldn't eat and she had been staying downstairs for a while (they have a two story enclosure and usually sleep upstairs). When the girlfriend came home and tried to feed Jo, the poor thing squeaked and collapsed on the ground... she wasn't on the other side yet as her heart was still going and she was still breathing but from her behaviour it was easy to say she'd had a stroke, as the vet later confirmed. At the vet, she was gently put to sleep while I held her in her last moments. It's a year and a month since losing my poor Jessy and Jo was a therapy rabbit for me, while Odie never wanted to cuddle or be picked up. Jo was a good rabbit and she's now resting in the garden while one of my home grown flowers grows above her. Odie is still a little lonely but I'm glad to say she's becoming more friendly toward us.
On to better news... I managed to convince the girlfriend that, while getting a new rabbit right away may be a bad decision, a hamster certainly isn't. So here I present Hambit, as we are now going to name all future pets after X men characters... he's a very friendly Russian hamster and he's getting a huge maze that goes through the whole house 😂
