Have I ever mentioned how much I hate to be right?
In the mid 80s I was a young, idealistic environmentalist. I went on and on about how dangerous CO2 was, and how we had to outlaw fossilized fuel and find alternatives quick, cause at the rate things were going, in about 20 yrs, if the Chineese and Indians (who had back then just started their economical climb) got the same car per citizen rate as the west things would look very bleak for the environment.
No I am not pretending to be the only person who saw this. I am not a prophet. A lot of scientists (atleast in Europe and Norway were saying this, and about the same time the Metallica album "...And Justice For All" were released (containing the song "Blackened" among others.
Now, 20 yrs later, 80% of New Orleans is under water.
In less than 100 yrs the place I live will have stopped being the green and plesant land of West Norway and instead be the cold and frosen tundra of West Norway.
The parts of the world that are close to the Equator will get warmer and have more tropical storms and hurricanes and tyfoons, while us polar guys will have more snow fun. All year. No spring, no summer, no autumn. Just 360 days of winter. I won't be alive, but my grandchildren will.
Now it is to late to do anything anyway, but we should still try to find alternatives to fossilized fuel, cause the oil will soon be all gone.
And to all those people who thought I was being a pessimist and doomsdayprophet in the 80s, and laughed at me and made fun of me: Screw you! I was right.
I wish I wasn't.
