I was going to write something cool, witty and intellegent about Mozart today, to mark his 250th birthday. But what can I possibly say about him that hasn't been said better before? So I'll just name my top 3 favourite Mozart works:
1. Requiem
2. Don Giovanni
3. Grand Mass in D-minor
What are yours?
...
NAA no. 16: Eirik Kvalfoss - World Champion 10 km Biathlon
Biathlon is every Norwegians wet dream: Skiing and shooting at the same time! Unsuprisingly we rule this sport together with the Germans. And many of the foreign "biathlonists" speak Norwegian too.
What: Eirik Kvalfoss crushed the big favourite Frank Ulrich in the sprint distance in biathlon. Ulrich had won three World Championships straight before the 1982 one, and was the supreme biathlete at the time.
Where: Minsk, Soviet Union
Why: Perhaps with the exeption of Odd Lirhus and Magnar Solberg, Norway hadn't really had any really good biathletes for a while in the individual competitions. The next ten years he horded a large amount of medals, also in the olympics, and paved the way for our place as one of the leading natoins in biathlon.
