The Bird Flu has hit England
Getting too close for comfort to Norway.
"A South American parrot which died in quarantine in the UK had avian flu, it has been revealed.
The parrot, which was imported in mid-September, was infected with the H5 strain of the virus.
But the Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs says there is no cause for alarm.
Chief Veterinary Officer Debby Reynolds said: "The confirmed case does not affect the UK's official disease free status.
"(That's) because the disease has been identified in imported birds during quarantine."
First it is "Panick - Panick - Panick" and then "no cause for alarm". I wish they would make up their bloody mind.
"A seven-year-old boy whose father recently died of bird flu has also contracted the disease.
A spokesman for the Siriraj Hospital said: "Two different tests, performed at two different laboratories, have produced a positive result. So the boy has the bird flu virus."
The confirmation makes the boy, Ronnarit Benpad, the 19th confirmed case of bird flu in Thailand since the first human case was detected in January 2004.
The boy and his father, 48-year-old farmer Bang-on Benpad, caught the disease while he and his son slaughtered a sick chicken in their village in the western province of Kanchanaburi.
Bang-on died on Wednesday, becoming Thailand's first bird flu fatality in a year."
Apart from his name being slightly funny, this is developing into a typically boring situation.

zahara:
Isn't it strange how the media can so bash you with images and stories that you start to no longer care? The news portrays nearly everything as being the end of the world. I bet that when the end of the world really happens, I'll be relieved.

i agree dont eat the chicken salad as they say on the airlines.
sad tho that people have to die before stuff gets noticed, but do you honestly think the media would of said much if the kids dad was named John Smith? Freaking Media is just like the song Dirty Laundry protrays it. "get the widow on the set we need dirty laundry" and people wonder why i dont watch american TV.
