So I just got back from working at the Astrodome. All I can say is wow. If this is what a calm, collected, organized site looks like then I cannot imagine what the Supredome must have looked like. The utter mass of humanity, broken and spent, was almost too much to take. Aside from the fact that everyone there spoke English there was no indication that I was in the United States anymore. That being said, things are getting better. The people there were getting food and clothing. There were several large containers of medical supplies, blankets, hygiene items and even some toys for the children. Of course, this situation is not ideal but I feel that it is the best the relief workers can do. All of the hurricane victims that I spoke with seemed to be in surprisingly high spirits given everything that they have had to endure over the past several days. Many of them asked me to pass along a very sincere Thank you. to all of you who have made donations.
And, just because its been a long day...
