Do you have a bunch of songs...
... that make you absolutely happy just listening to them because of the sheer awesomeness of the song? It may be the lyrics, the tone, the tune, the huge guitar solo, but there's something there that always makes you smile. I'm not talking about those songs that make you pull that silly 'grooving' face (yeah don't bullshit me, you all do it), or those songs that get you all fired up and make you feel invincible; just the songs that make you smile.
Here's some of mine:
Chevelle - Paint the Seconds
This song has a 3/4 time signature, which is unusual for a modern rock track, but its the vocal line that just brings on the grin.
Black Tide - Warriors of Time
Ha! This makes me grin just thinking about it. Released in '07 its in the style of some awesome 80's metal band that you missed, and the lead guitarist/vocalist is only 16.
Dragonforce - Through the Fire and the Flames
We'll carry on!
Pendulum - Mutiny
There's just something about the beat.
Gob - I Hear You Calling
Weird tone for a happy tune I know, but there's a great little sing along at the end to fad out.
O.A.R. - City On Down
Preferably live, but these guys are such good musicians that all the solos in this track make it a winner.
So tell me about your happy songs.

So, the list that started as a lengthy one had dwindled down to a handful of songs that make me genuinely happy. These songs make me want to bounce. They make me want to wind down the windows in my car and sing loudly. The below list isn't final and I reserve the right to add to it at a later date should I wish to do so.
Third Eye Blind - Semi Charmed Life
Don't listen to the lyrics. Just listen to the upbeat tune and roll with it. Head to the sky and smile. My favourite smiling track of all time.
Bloc Party - Like Eating Glass
A brilliant introduction to an amazing album. Everything is good about this song.
The Cure - Just Like Heaven
The lines "It's such a gorgeous sight to see you eat in the middle of the night.." make me smile. The imagery is beautiful.
Roxette - June Afternoon
Gah. There aren't words. It's a feeling like my insides want to become my outsides and frolic in the sunshine.
CC & The Music Factory - Just Touch of Love (Everyday)
Shut up! I know, I know. I fell in love with this song as a young whipper-snapper and bounce around the house to it whenever I put on the Sister Act soundtrack. It's awesome.
The Killers - Mr Brightside
Love it. It is bouncy and smiley and fun.
So, there you have it. A hard list given the criteria, but I'm finally done!
