So what the fuck happened to me?
I could choose to blame this on my girlfriend, but I won't, it was my choice to walk away and remain inactive for so long. But while I'm at it I may as well talk about her. I guess the big thing is, she is responsible for a lot of changes in myself. She listens to 'urban' music, and really throws everything else away. Not a massive fan of guitars in any way, so the only common ground we have on that front is Linkin Park and whatever songs of hers I find entertaining. She's very outspoken, and gets her way a lot, which is good because she speaks up for me and forces me to do things for my own good at times. She hates tattoos and piercings (go figure). She's a non-drinker as well, which has somehow forced my to cut my consumption down a bit as well. You'd think a non-drinker would drive more but she doesn't, and I don't really care. But I love hanging out with her. Sitting on the couch and watching bad TV. I love the way she acts and her certain little craziness. She's not me and that's a good thing. There's no way in hell I'd want to date me.
In other news, my best friend has moved to San Francisco. That's a long bloody way from Perth and I'm missing her heaps. She was a massive organiser of things to do, and this means I need to bloody well organise myself to do things. It's rough out there I tells ya. The reason behind the move was it had been a goal of hers to finish her degree and get a job in the US, she's doing some form of couselling at a high school currently. I was quite the weepy emo boy when she left. Thank god I don't have the hair to keep it up. Still the emails and IMs are good, and Skype is a godsend.
The hockey team is sitting second last on the ladder, and as far as I can tell, it's not my fault. In fact I'm playing pretty well. We had our first win of the season last Sunday, and I still had to work my butt off for the full 70 minutes before we sealed it. I have a highly quality bruise on my right shoulder from a save I made in the last 5 seconds to seal the 3-2 win. I've also spent $1257 on new equipment in the last month and I look totally bad-ass.
Work, is work. That's all I have to say about that.
I've also been getting down to some new(ish) tunes of recent:
- Lacuna Coil - Karmacode: This album rocks. I lovedriving along having You Create / What I See cranked on the old car stereo.
- Seven Wiser - Seven Wiser: It's a bit alternative but I'm in it for the solos towards the ass end of the record. Nothing better than a few guitars wailing
- The Butterfly Effect - Imago: August 20, Newport. 'Nuff said.
- Sevendust - Next: New guitarist, but would you notice? Lajon's voice is as soulful as ever.
ON the reading front, I've finished Steven King's Dark Tower series. And I've run out of new stuff to read. But damn, those 7 books were an awesome tail, and as King writes, it's not the ending that matters, but the journey. I've also chewed through a couple of Neil Gaiman books, which has led to my current drought of reading material. Good thing is I've got a few months of people's journals to catch up on
Last but not least, I saw the second Pirates of the Caribbean flick the other day. It reminds me of the Matrix Reloaded, as in it's a movie that shouldn't have been made. Any one of the six endings would have done to stop this drawn out narrative, which seemed to lose all of the swashbuckling fun of the first, and replace it with idiotic stunts, and Orlando Bloom trying to make every character he's ever portrayed be like Legolas (The horses are restless Aragorn!).
Until next time folks (here's hoping it's not going to be 3.5 months again).
ooooh i must check out sevendusts new stuff!!!
