I had the best meal of my life last night. My man decided he wanted to take me to an Italian restaurant downtown that he had been to, and I had always wanted to go to. It is a small place, but very warm and comfortable. I would for sure call it upscale, but every member of the staff we encountered was extremely pleasant, not snooty at all. We were told we would have to wait about 30 minutes, which was fine, but even though the place was packed we got a table in about 20 minutes. Our server was attentive but unobtrusive (which I love), and timed the meal so we could relax and enjoy our wine. I had seared beef medallions with a lovely chianti sauce and baby spinach. I swear the beef almost melted in my mouth, it was unbelievably tender. I seriously have never been more impressed with a restaurant, in every aspect. So, if you are ever in Austin, you must try Vespaio on South Congress, you won't be sorry. I then reverted to white trash the minute we walked out the door and stole a wine glass off of a newspaper machine. Kinda forgot about that til I saw it in my floorboard this morning.
We are going out to my aunt's for Thankgiving, and this will be the first time my man has met any of my family. My aunt is really fucking laid back and cool, and I would put money on her being tits deep in some mimosas by the time we get there at noon. We are showing up armed to the teeth in alcohol and desserts, I think that is the best plan. Here's to hoping my mom doesn't go off on some political tangent, seeing as how everyone but her in the family are what she calls "hardcore liberals". So be it.
Hope everyone has a good holiday, or at the very least doesn't have to work
