The heat outside renders everything a faded golden wash and I am left with dreams of the coming fall as I watch it from afar----or near, in my sheltered home. Yet, I dream of making corn husk dolls, Halloween decorations, scrumptious apple creations. Of fall's pumpkins, and tall sunflowers bending under the weight of birds pulling at the seeds in their middles. Of children with backpacks on their way to school. The sight of my neighbors child, two-years old, holding leaves the size of his cherub face.
And those earth-toned leaves quaking in the air before releasing themselves into the sky to perform one last dance. Breathing deep the tell-tale air of fall; the briskness that ushers squirrels into hollows and geese into Vs.
Fall, that announces the winter to come through its breezy winds. And the frost that spreads once again upon the grass, like last year's lace afghan. That's what I dream of while guiltily hiding away in my humble abode.
And I try to remind myself of my daily mantra: find the good in this moment. In the moment.
Gratitude. Grace and Acceptance.
This last sweltering heat of summers departing, offers up its lessons and its pleasures as the approaching rainstorm will usher in the sweet coolness and comfort of fall.....

Slow Dance
Have you ever watched kids on a merry-go-round
or listened to the rain slapping the ground?
Ever followed a butterflys erratic flight
or gazed at the sun fading into the night?
You better slow down, dont dance too fast,
Time is short, the music wont last
Do you run through each day on the fly
When you ask how are you? do you hear the reply?
When the day is done do you lie in your bed
with the next hundred chores running through your head?
You better slow down, dont dance too fast
Time is short, the music wont last
Ever told your child you will do it tomorrow
and in your haste not seen his sorrow?
When you run so fast to get somewhere
You miss half the fun of getting there.
When you worry and hurry through your day
Its like an unopened gift thrown away
Life isnt a race so take it slower
Hear the music before your song is over
