Greetings SG! I've got a nice long blog for you today, but no worries I have pictures to make the journey less painful. SO... where to start...
My journey began in Orlando. Took a day off to run some errands...
(get new plates for my car which didn't happen because I left my original title in Iowa and need it to switch my plates from Iowa to Florida)
(and fix my cable which was broken for 3 days then miraculously fixed itself just when I am ready to leave and don't need to use it for the next 5 days.. stupid internet...)
...as well as get a head start on my 8 hour drive to Charlotte, NC to visit a close friend for Turkey day.
SO, I'm finally on the road despite my lack of progress finality but with a 4 hour head start (or so I thought). As it turned out my 8 hour journey was extended thanks to a Georgian in their giant 4x4 truck.
Turns out if you play chicken with a vehicle twice your size you are guaranteed to loose
SO, a $150 tow fee, a "Failure to Yeild" Ticket and a few MacGyver style bandages later I'm back on the road.
I get to Charlotte safe and sound and pleasure myself with fantastic food and warm company.
Once there I was excited to find an online link to listen to my Alma-mater, the UNI Panthers play in the playoffs. The went in undefeated (11-0) playing New Hampshire.
After some hair-pulling, table-pounding, beer-drinking football excitement as well as a 1:16 final drive and a last-play-of-the-game catch, my panthers won it!!!!
There are some tolerable videos in this youtube video around 6:15 onward. Keep in mind it's probably cell-cam video but it's better than nothing...
So it's off to the semi-finals against Delaware December 1st @ 1PM Central Time. So GO LISTEN TO THE GAME! You know where I'll be that day.
BUT, unfortunately time passes and it's time to leave. SO, I pack my things and strap down for a long 8 hour trip home through the rain.
Of course my return journey could not be anything less interesting than the first trip! Oh no ladies and gents the fun continues...
My car decides it really doesn't like georgia anymore and decides to backtrack 30 minutes without me knowing.
I finally talk it out of the tantrum and continue onward. I finally make it to Jacksonville and I decide to take a potty-stop at the local drug-dealing gas station where I am offered drugs from a friendly girl and relieve myself in a bathroom that looks like a scene from a horror movie.
BUT, I made it out alive. Got home around 3AM and made it to work the next morning.
I look forward to this week with a nice vacation under my belt and birthday frivolities in the near future!
I hope you all had a fantastic Thanksgiving Holiday!
