Nothing really noteworthy happened in the last couple of days to me personally, other than feeling sick as a dog and frequently getting to enjoy a closeup view of the toilet bowl, so I am going to have a little rant.
"How gay is that?"
Someone used that phrase recently when I was talking to them and although they were joking it set me thinking. Why does listening to the music of a particular artist, watching a particular TV program, or even admiring the attitude of certain people earmark you as being potentially "gay"?
I am a pretty quiet person in real life and I have a lot of friends who are women, far more than guy friends, and they seem to find it easy to talk to me/feel comfortable about me. I am not some hairy palmed knuckle dragger who chases every bit of skirt but that is for medical/confidence reasons as opposed to preferring an alternate choice. Just to explain the medical reasons so you dont think its something relating to sexual organs to explain this, I have a prolapsed disc in my spine so normal activities like frantic dancing/sex are out of the question.
One of my favourite TV programs has been Charmed, well seasons one to three anyway. Saying I liked Charmed was the catalyst for the "how gay is that?" comment btw. Why is it so wrong to like a strong female lead oriented role(s) that does not involve fast cars or guns without it being classed as "gay"? Now from boards I frequent I do realise that a large proportion of the guys that watch that series are in fact homosexual which partially adds to my confusion. Look at Charmed, gorgeous women in good roles and interesting storylines... "gay"???
Now as for music that I really cannot understand, so what if you like artists like Madonna, Belinda Carlisle, Sarah Brightman, Heart, Rasputina, etc. I prefer instrumental music but if there are vocals then I just rather they be female because I find listening to a womans voice more relaxing rather than some guy yelling angrily. I dont listen to music thinking about having sex with the artist, I listen to music to chill out.
Oh, I just realised thinking about the article that Morgan posted the other day that even talking and asking such questions would seem "gay".
What is up with the world?
