blah....
wish i was still on vacation.
nothing new to report, work still sucks, but i get paid fairly decently and have good benefits...
so i try to keep whiny shit out of my journals regarding the work place.
Lets just say that there are some dirty politics and favoritism going on which angers me a bit.
truth be told though, they effect (or is it affect?)
other people besides myself.
but i hate seeing other people being taken advantage of!
and i'll leave it at that.
hhhmmm... Holagatita gave me some interesting cards for my plane ride home back from seattle,
and one stack of them was called "52 terrific and forgotten films"
thats a lot of films!
so i thought i'd mention at least seven of them
1) "American Heart" with Jeff Bridges and Edward Furlong... this one came out in 93
its not a feel good film by any means, but very well acted.
its about a guy just released from prison and his being reunited with his 14 yr old son.
2) "Diner" a classic Barry Levinson film regarding a group of friends that meet nightly at the Fells point diner
to contemplate their pasts and futures. great ensemble cast that includes Mickey Rourke, Ellen Barkin and Kevin Bacon
3) "Chilly scenes of winter" starring Mary beth hurt and John Heard....
about a relationship gone sour, in which the main character embarks on a mission to win the girl back at any cost..
4) "Something wild" ( i own the soundtrack to this one!)
Jonathan Demme film from 1986 with Melanie Griffith and Ray Liotta...
crazy gem of a film thats somewhat of a black comedy with some scary kind of subplot thrown in...
interesting and well worth a look
5) "the wanderers" from 1979 about some bronx teenagers and gang life back in 1963, good acting and fun music starring Ken wahl and Karen Allen
6)"two for the road" a classic film about a couple on the verge of divorce, their up and down marital history is shown through a series of flashbacks during a roadtrip.... starring Audrey Hepburn and Albert Finney
7) "the Emerald forest" based on a true story... it centers on an american engineer who after ten years, goes back to the rain forest to try and find his kidnapped son again ( he was taken by an indian tribe)
beautiful cinematography. it stars Powers Boothe and was released in 1985
okay, and now for some questions.
1) Your favorite performance by Robert Duvall?
2) which band.... X or The Buzzcocks?
3) favorite foreign film in the last ten years?
4) top three bands from the seventies?
5) uummm... do you like Jean Harlow?
6) best performance by Christopher Walken?
7) Meryl streep... are you a fan?
8) have you ever seen a film with Clara Bow in it?
9) Mary Woronov is a cult film goddess..... yes or no?
10) do you have a favorite song by "Faith no more".... i'm talking to you FancyD!
okay, heading off for a spell to watch television and get drunk
this film seriously disturbed me when i was younger...
still kind of liked it despite the depressing storyline
