Update time...
no photos though...
perhaps its time for me to start thinking about saving up money for a camera all my own?
start documenting my adventures instead of relying on the husband to be the sole one responsible?
anyway,
we picked up FancyD at the airport early sunday morning and headed into N.Y.C..
Dorwayin managed to do the four hr drive after getting an hour and a half sleep..
because .. well... he's the man!
I can't say enough about FancyD,
the woman made me giddy!
she was such an awesome companion, beautiful, witty, intelligent...
and the legs on her!
we had a great time scurrying around the city before we all had to check in at our hotels, even managing a quick
fifteen minute visit to my favorite haunt "Kims video"
i did good though, as i only bought a book...though i was tempted to pick up a hundred films and do a mad dash
to the cash register, but my self control came back strangely enough.
Also was psyched to get a smoothie at "Jamba Juice"!
we have no smoothie joints in my city, and if i want a decent one, i have to make it myself
I indulged in a late lunch at some cuban joint ( I can't remember the name of it!)
and had a cubano sammie, which put a big ass smile on my face
after checking in to our hotel, we started getting ready for our dinner date,
D was pimping in a pinstripe suit, while FancyD and I put on our little black dresses,
and then we were off to http://www.danielnyc.com/cafeboulud/
uummm..... it was a four hour dinner!
holy shit... so worth it too, not just for the company, but the food was fucking slamming!
we got some extra perks for being cool folks, and it was about six to seven little courses in there (after a knobcreek and high on french food, my memory gets a little hazy)
Our host asked us if we were in the industry?
and after D and D replied yes, we were invited to take a tour of the kitchen and meet with the chef
an adventure indeed!
we did not walk out of that restaurant... we kind of waddled..
and needless to say, we were useless for the rest of the night, so off to bed we went with the finest of food and booze in our bellies.
The next day, D and I had to check out at twelve... damn hotels!
after a quick luncheon with my cousin (on her break)
we scrambled around a bit more.. eventually picking up FancyD again and getting caught in some major traffic...
it was 9/11 and many tributes were going on including a peacewalk that both D's took some photos of.
That evening we met up with Afterbirth, Anaxarete, and CorpHo...
we were excited to finally meet them.
Afterbirth is tall... which i already knew from his profile, but yeah... hurt my neck looking up at him!
and he is just as funny as i thought he would be, his Mrs. is just stunning too... i kind of expected that,
but within minutes of meeting her, all i could think was that pictures dont even do her justice!
I met their little one "Wave", and i was bowled over at how frigging happy this baby was (plus adorable)
CorpHo was quite the looker herself, she reminded me of some old film actress whose name still escapes me..
though Afterbirth insists its a young Angela Lansbury (and yes, the resemblance is pretty strong)
These folks were just wonderful!
and i only wish we could have had more time to hang out, but thats what i get for a day and a half trip to the city
We headed down to chinatown to Afterbirths favorite viatnamese restaurant and had a feast!
The food was delish, and i only wish i had skipped lunch so i could have eaten more...
Gluttony is my biggest sin.
so yeah, all in all.... excellent company and wonderful food... too little time...
we said our goodbyes, dropped FancyD off uptown..(I seriously thought about throwing her in the backseat of my car and taking her home with me, but alas... i was trying to behave!)
and off D and i went back to Mass as we had to work the next morning.
we got home at two thirty a.m.
I already miss everyone!
why can't all the cool people i have met from this site live closer!
I like Afterbirths idea of a SG commune/ city thing ...
but i'm happy that i got to meet up with everyone.
i've fallen behind with my bookmarks and comments being off the computer for two and a half days,
i will eventually catchup..
sorry for being so neglectful, but real life happened and it was a great fucking time.
I got "Cache" in the mail yesterday,
hopefully i'll watch it tonight...
i've heard conflicting reviews, so wish me luck!
I think in time Dorwayin may put some pics up of our short trip.
if you made it this far, thanks for reading

The subject of this documentary had great potential, but, over the course of an 82-minute film, they were too often going from place to place and not explaining the stories they encountered on their trip. Both C. and I agreed that the wife of the couple is attractive, but we wish that they'd brought their dog Miles with them, too.
2) Laura
An enjoyable noir, to be sure, but I've just never really thought too much about Dana Andrews. His work never inspired me much. Gene Tierney looked great in the movie, though, and it was good to see a young Vincent Price.
3) If...
MM was in attendance and seemed to think of the film as a masterpiece. I wouldn't go so far as to say that, but it scored a high rating on my "rating" sheet.
How's your weekend been, Shel?
