I went to see SpiderMan 2 last night, and if you haven't seen it, I suggest you do so as soon as possible.
As I was watching the movie I kept thinking about Spiderman as the archetypal dual-persona hero. I mean, Peter Parker needs Spiderman as much as anyone else, it's as Spidey that he can act out all those pent up feelings from being stepped on and treated like shit all the time.
The movie really pointed out the internal struggle faced by Peter, how he has to do the right thing, even if it means not getting what he really wants, and the ultimate moral is, If you do the right thing, you'll get what you want.
Oh, and to spoil it for those who haven't seen it...
Spiderman fights Doc Ock on a train, but that's not important... what is, is that when Spidey saves the train full of people with nothing but his bare hands, he passes out from exhaustion, and the crowd catch him from falling, haul him over their heads (very 'christ off the cross' like), and they find out who he is, and everyone on the bus tells him they won't spill the beans. Now, you know, at least one person in that crowd is gonna say something...
Anyway, I really liked it.
