I am so excited at the possibilities that President-Elect Obama gives our country. I truly believe that he will aid America to getting back on the right track.

Unfortunately, there was some bad news to go along with the good.

California Proposition 8 & Florida Amendment 2 both passed. For those that aren't aware, Prop 8 was to ban gay marriage and Amendment 2 was to define marriage as 'one man, one woman.' Amendment 2 was falsely advertised as a measure to ban gay marriage in Florida, and that is why, I believe, so many people voted for it.

It's ridiculous to see how this country still reacts to homosexuals. It's quite sad. Who cares if a man loves another man or a woman loves another woman? I suppose when something goes 'against God,' you have to regard it as an abomination. And to that, I say, we will never truly be equal in this country until religion is completely separated from politics. It has no place there, not now and not ever. It fogs peoples' minds, blinds them to the facts, and gives them an excuse to act discriminatory against certain groups of people.

Also, just to show you how retarded Florida is, (1) there is already a ban on gay marriage in this state, and (2) Florida considers a majority to be 60% of the vote. Is there any wonder why this state's education is in such shambles?

Anyway, off on a tangent I went. Thanks to all who voted for Obama and helped make him our 44th president and thanks to those who voted against Prop 8 and Amendment 2. This country has a long way to go to recover from its current situation, but I believe that we will get there soon enough. Maybe, along the way, we'll discover equality for all. One can hope.

Also, while you're here on SG, check out my good friend's set in member review right here. It's good stuff. Make sure to show her some love by leaving a comment as well.

Peace out.
