I have decided to start an adventure club! where once a month where people go on an adventurre to a ridiculous yet semi-famous tourist spot in sother califronia.... some right here in LA and others maybe a bit of a drive away....
i am thinking we carpool and make the trek where upon we have a potluck styule picnic lunch.... it takes place on either a saturday or sunday.... maybe some wine and beer (for those not driving) and take mucho pictires and generally have a blast with the local tourist trap!....
i am open to sugestions fo places to go... here ae some of my ideas so far:
a) concrete dinosaurs,, as seen in pee wee's big adventure
b) the airplane graveyard
c) house shaped like a shoe
d)brownie the railroad dog
e)bones of the wolds tallest man
just to name a few...
so who is down i am going to make the first on on sept. 16th to the
Exotic World Burlesque Museum:
The Scene
Former home of "Bazoom Girl" Jennie Lee, Exotic World now serves as headquarters for the Exotic Dancers League. Today, the naughty public treasury of legendary unmentionables and bewitching props is run by former stripper Dixie Evans. (Now in her 70s, Evans traveled the exotic dance circuit from 1949 to 1962 as "The Marilyn Monroe of Burlesque.") If you're lucky, you may be invited into her home for a moment of silent contemplation before the ashes of her friend, dancer Sherry Champagne.
The Collection
Photos, videos, pasties, G-strings and voluptuous mannequins slumped in faded costumes commemorate everyone from Josephine Baker to contemporary tease queens, though this homey museum's emphasis is on the burlesque era. Don't miss Sally Rand's fans, the skimpy tidbits worn by Gypsy Rose Lee and Jayne Mansfield's couch.
