This the email I sent out about my upcoming solo gig

I realize most of you will probably be out of town, but I wanted to let you know about this in case you can make it.

I will be performing two sets of covers solo. I've got about 90 songs in my book, but most of them are The Replacements, Elvis Costello, Tom Waits, The Clash, that sort of thing. You can request tunes, but I probably won't know them. If they're cool and I can do it with just a guitar I'll learn them for the next show. This is the first time I've done something like this. I always thought it would be cool to have some type of rock sing-along show, but without the vegas kitch and with cool songs for *my* people. If you like what you hear, you can throw me a couple bucks. You can also pay me off to shut the hell up if the money's right.
So, if you want to sing along with a guy playing tunes on a big, curvy guitar with a little tube amp in a cozy setting, I'd really appreciate your support. Carl, at the Scene, said if it goes well he'd have me play again on the 27th.
The Scene is a 21 & over venue with a full bar that features Guinness AND Pabst on tap.

I haven't heard back about the lifesaving job yet. I'm trying to stay optimistic about the whole thing. Today, I'm going to get my xmas cd shipped to all the out of town people.
Friday, I went to the Disgruntled/Uppercut Records xmas party. It was very cool, another potluck turkey dinner. Their office is in the Brewery complex over on Main St. I brought a bottle of Monopolowa vodka. John likes vodka and I'm turning him on to potato vodka. He likes the Chopin, but I wanted him to try something that is almost as good for 1/3 the price. He loved it.
Lately, I've been really amused at how many people love talking about themselves. I used to get upset if the conversation was lopsided, but now I just love asking questions and watching people let loose. It's a great pasttime for the holiday season when meeting a lot of new people.
I did a good job pacing myself because I wanted to be in good shape for hanging out with my brother on Saturday.
more on that later....
