I think I'm going to play some tunes at Mr. T's open mike night on Tuesday. I've been playing a lot of popular tunes from my heroes which, lately, means a lot of Tom Waits. I look at it as a study, like reproducing a master's painting. Of course, I'm no Tom Waits, but I'm learning a lot about his writing and bringing the songs to life.

I was also doing some Woody Guthrie last night, my father's hero. I think I'm partially doing this because I'd like to be with my family over the holidays. My dad always busts out the guitar and does folk tunes after presents and before dinner.

It really feels like I'm hitting the spot doing these songs. I hope something will happen like the last time I did the open mike: I did The Replacement's "Answering Machine". At first, I thought no one was paying attention, which didn't really bother me. I was having a good time. Towards the end of the song there were a few people in the distance singing along while raising their glasses. Now *that's* what I'm talking about. Music should bring people together and motivate them, not just entertain them.

I kicked ass on another psych test last night. 57 multiple guess questions & I finished in 15 minutes. Even though the class isn't as challenging as I'd hoped, I'm still learning a lot.

Well, I'm off to the gym. If I have time, I might do some busking for the first time which makes me really nervous for some reason. That makes me think even more that I should do it.

Yes, ok. So I made it safely..right? Yeah, and now I'm supposed to go back home tonight. Work at 6:30 in the am.... um... soft ball size hail comin' right at us... doesn't look like I'll be on the road tonight. Oh! God, my fishing story is great...to answer your question...caught a white bass...I think. That's what I was told. I dunno. wink
