Return.....of the ROCK VAN!
It sucks the gas down, but I guess it's OK since I'm usually on my motorcycle anyway. I've got to get the power steering fixed soon. BUT it's got blue velour and carpet interior with wood paneling, captain's chairs, stereo w/ EQ, chrome grill & mag wheels, the wipers & heat work unlike my last van, and I've already got the bike rack on the spare tire. I'd really like to find work and use the van for playing shows and going camping.
Friday, I went with Glen & John from Disgruntled records to an illegal storefront show. There were lots of people drinking on the sidewalk. NYC style public urination. Maity & The Sharpeaze were both really good. Some band called The Weeds played and they certainly were talented, at clearing the room. We had a case of beer in the back of Glen's stationwagon. I gave a Rolling Rock to Don Bolls (Germs drummer).
Saturday was spent watching bad TV and recovering.
Sunday, I rehearsed with Al & Nick. Al claims it was for Nick's benefit to get him out of the house & have some exercise. The thing is, he's resurrecting a lot of the songs we put together for "The Combo" a early 60's style group w/ upright bass (me) guitar, organ, & drums. It went well and it feels really good to be back on the bass, my 1st instrument.
We did it again last night. I'm just wondering if this is going to turn into a band or not. I'd like to write some tunes for it, but it'd be good to know where Al is going with it.
After rehearsal, I picked up Glen in my ROCK VAN and we went over to Footsie's for a drink. Carter met up with us later, but he had to get up early today for some reality show "Dude Room" he got sucked into. I drank more than I intended, but I was a good boy and had a couple glasses of club soda. Man, John Powers is good Irish whiskey, but it sure beats your ass the next day.
Well, I'm off to go by the bartending school to look at their job listings. Then, I'll head down to the gym and think about cold-calling some more places to try and scare up work.
