Things are going well in the audiio department. It was a little rough at first and I'm still making some mistakes, but I've been told that I'm performing better than expected. I'm doing things on my own and haven't crashed and burned. I've been recalled to shipping temporarily because my successor has messed up a few things and they think he needs a little supervision. Fortunately, they think he can still do the job once he's whipped into shape a bit.
I was making a comment the other day about how being recalled was like having to swim back to the boys camp after you've ventured out to the girl's camp across the lake. One of the other guys who's also training to advance said, "Imagine spending two years in camp". I said, "I have been here for a year and a half". I was thinking to myself, "How about going through for years of college and 12 years of experience to do a year and a half in shipping." I decided it was best to not say that. People don't take into account my experience or education and it's better to not say anything and just show them up than get defensive when they will think you're waving your degree in their face. It's just something I have to encounter all the time in entertainment.
God, I want out of shipping.
I went with a friend last night to the "joy ride". It was an art opening on wilshire and all the art was about bicycling. A friend of mine from the AIDS ride had four photos in there. They also had free bicycle valet parking. We all rode back to Silverlake together. Then, I rode to a BBQ for a few beers and a burger.
I have all this free time on my hands and I don't know what to do half the time. So many choices. I'm really enjoying it. I'm looking forward to having a real weekend.
