Friday night, I was riding my motorcycle home and I took a corner too sharply and bumped the curb. It pushed the footpeg up, which is OK since it's on a hinge. I hit my foot and was amazed it didn't hurt. I soon found out why. I approached the next traffic light and realized the rear brake pedal was completely gone!
I got home and saw that the rear pedal had snapped off the footpeg mounting bracket, right above the hinge for the pedal. So, I just ordered $135 worth of parts. I'll have to drive my gas-guzzling van until I get it fixed. I'm just glad I didn't break my foot.
Friday night, I stayed home and watched City of Lost Children, again. I love that movie.
Saturday, I watched the USC game with Carter.
Saturday night, I dressed up as Hunter S. Thompson and went to three different parties. There was another Hunter at the last party, but he was so engrossed in the role that he was being creepy. A friend of mine squirted me in the face with a squirtgun. I threatened to knee-tackle her and she laughed at me. So, I takled her. Not hard. I just grabbed her knees. It wasn't until later that someone told me she had taken mushrooms, which explains her disorientation. She was fine, but I had to hear about it all night from her.
I got home at 7am. I slept until 1. Carter & I went out to a cafe. Then I did laundry and zoned out on TV.
I got tagged; 20 facts
1. When I was a baby, my Dad was driving the VW bug in the snow. He went around a corner and the door opened and I flew out. I was wrapped in so many blankets that when he found me, I was still asleep. I joked about it once, but he got real mad. He didn't even know I knew. I felt bad when he told me about all the nightmares he's had about that.
2. I went to the hospital for a week when I was twelve. They couldn't figure out what was wrong. The thought it was my appendix, then my kidney. They didn't know if I was going to lose it. Then they realized it was just an infection.
3. I have broken both my elbows.
4. I have had three knee surgeries.
5. My grandmother, Olive, used to chase tornados in Oklahoma.
6. My uncle, Quinn, is a hardcore Chicago socialist & was their presidential candidate in 1992.
7. My aunt Kathryn, on the other side of the family, was a Russian professor at Middleberry. We had our phone tapped during the Regan years.
8. I have lived in the same rent-controlled apartment for 12 years.
9. I speak fluent Spanish, but have never spent more than four days in a Spanish speaking country.
10. I play guitar, bass, upright bass, and a little piano.
11. I have a sister who is a Bio-medical engineer and designs robots to help disabled children.
12. My other sister is a Detective.
13. I study Buddhism, but I'm not a very good Buddhist.
14. I own and wear a kilt.
15. I completed the 2003 Aids Lifecycle ride and am planning on doing it again in 2006.
16. I met Keifer Sutherland while waiting in line at the In 'n Out burger.
17. I am an excellent cook.
18. I have poor impulse control.
19. When I was 3 I hit my chin on the top of a playground slide and I have a cross-shaped scar below my bottom lip. I grow a "soul patch" to cover it up.
20. My grandfather Bill, was a chemical engineer for Kodak. It wasn't until later that he realized he was unknowingly part of the Manhattan Project. He was the X-ray specialist. He also found out later that Kodak had sold the rights to some of his innovations which were later used by the government in the development of mustard gas. He retired early due to heart illness. He became a painter, a master chef, and developed a world-class coin collection.
