my soul has always loved the sun
there it was, shining beams of life
with feathers and tar on my back
strongly constructed built on the dreams of Icarus
i took flight alone, up into the sky
my heart was heavy and the tar was melting
as my body felt so weightless, gravity came at full force
there i was, falling back to earth
as the birds watched from the sky
my shell was being forced down
tears started to welt
there i was in the middle of air and earth
suspended in an ozone, where nobody cared
crying out for help with nobody to hear
everyone thought it was foolish
but i payed them no mind.
that sun had caught my attention
my being longed to be in flight
with both hands i reached up higher
to only fall down faster
my heart felt so heavy
as the tar oozed over my skin
there it was bubbling and burning
blisters & blood
i screamed out to the sky
nobody heard me
feathers ran past me and swept away with the wind
these eyes could only cry
this throat could only scream to no one
a voice left unheard
my body slamming down onto earth
brittle bones with blood soaked tears
skin scorned by hasty decisions
an injured body sprawled on the grass
in a field far away from home
death tickled my toes crawling over my body
struggling for breath shivering and shaking
two hands came and lifted me up
washed my skin, kissed my hair
tending the wounds from outside
healing from within
my eyes opened
there you were
with gleaming eyes
& a tender smile
my golden sun
there it was, shining beams of life
with feathers and tar on my back
strongly constructed built on the dreams of Icarus

Really loved reading that. I always have been fascinated by Icarus, though I am afraid of the sun.
