So I'm in a bit of a funk today. I just found out that one of my all time favorite places in Oakland, The Parkway, is closing. The first day that I moved to Oakland, my friend invited me out to the movies and we hit the Parkway. It was great. I was super tired and slept through the movie but before I fell asleep, I spent the whole time going I LOVE THIS PLACE. The admission is cheap, the food is good, there are huge couches to recline on and wine and beer. And now on Sunday, it's closing.
To make matters more dismal, a local boutique Drift Denim, whose owner I now count as a friend, is also closing it's doors. It's a sad situation. I hate that in these economic times, it's the good people and businesses that go first. I'm working all weekend but I'm hoping to make it to both these establishments before it's too late.
