So I go out last night for drinks and to see a movie and somehow managed to park in the one section of the block that was reserved for taxis. So after a few hours of entertainment and good company I come back to find my car was towed! 
By a chance piece of luck the tow truck happened to come back for another victim and I was able to find out that the impound was only about 8 blocks away and open 24 hours so off we went to get my car back.
Any money I had thought about keeping in the bank at this point is gone. $185 to get my car out of the impound, and this doesn't include the $95 ticket I got on top of that!
So now I am safe and sound at home and poor as I am I have my car again.
Oh yeah and Shaun of the Dead rocks!
