And so on to Venice,
Myself and Loubie had a fabulous time in Venice, The Italians were very friendly and spoke beter English than we spoke Italian, thats just us Brits failing to try to learn any other languages for you. At least we learnt a fair bit, well enough that we got buy in the bars, shops and museums. We had trouble in the fishermans market though.
The highlights for me were St Marks Square (naturally) the Basicilica was OK but a bit too religious for me, most of the stuff in there was the same. Maddona and child here, Maddona and child there. On the other hand though The Doge's Palce was amazing, each room got bigger n better than the last with magnificient works of art everywhere. The last place on the tour of the palace was The Bridge of Sighs which links the placial courts to the prisons. Walking out of a stunning palace shimmering with gold leaf and art into a cramped, dingy dark and dank prison block was awesome but very disturbing, The feeling of oppression was too much for me and we left the prison block after only a few minutes as I was picking up on too much anguish and I nearly has a serious asthma attack and I couldn't breathe properly for about 20 minutes after comming out.
We went to Harry's Bar and paid 14 Euro each for a drink
. It was good to say that weve been there but it was 1 drink and then off I have to say.
The better Bar was Baraco Jazz, the other hang out of the rich n famous. Only 7 Euro a drink in there. Still expensive but a far better place to drink and a much superior atmosphere. I espicially liked the fact that there were literally 100's of Bra's all signed by their respective donor's hanging from the ceiling. I asked why there were there and
If my Italian holds up the story is that it started as a joke. Apparantly a girl wanted one of the bar's tee shirts and ended up swapping one for her bra
this then caught on. Interestingly there was one pair of panties amoungst all the bras. I made me wonder who the girl was who thought, umm... I'll give away my knickers but not my bra
Some Itiallin guy thought I was Elton John
no really he thought I was Elton John. We had to convince him that I wasn't. I mean look at me for f**ks sake.
Bra's in Baraco Jazz
I told you I was facinated by the bra's -
Next time : the Courtyard Ghosts and The trying of strange food.
