Greetings all.

Regretfully, this will be my last entry. As I say in my profile, my life is pretty much a fantasy, so it is always a surprise when reality breaks through. It has done so in quite a few different ways since my last entry - some good, some bad. I can't really explain what has happened, in some ways I'm not quite sure...

I urge all to see Bowie when he performs in your town! Easily the best gig I have ever been to...

Awaiting the final mixes of the first 3 songs from our album... with some trepidation. Not because I think they will be no good - but because I fear that no matter how good they are, they will still receive that slightly put-upon shrug...

OK, so no Meat Loaf for us. Looks like he never wanted to have a support band in the first place, and was just hedging round the issue in order to avoid visa issues. Oh well, easy come - easy go.

We spent last weekend in the studio with producer Tim Powles - it was awesome. We are very happy with the results, which we...

Fuck him, get him kicked out of the country. My housemate works in DIMIA...

I'm not really selling any serious stuff, just a couple of old samplers. In fact I'm kind of thinking about keeping one of them, even though I know I'll never use it.

How good are good producers that know what you want? I'm still quite new to the recording thing but the thing we did for sbs had this cool producer danny. We kind of just spent the whole time hanging out.
aaronsrod:
Meat Loaf what a prick (Metaphorically tears up ticket, will get refund but) fuck him x 2.
Are you able to raise finance against future album sales to get you by, with the proper due diligence in place I may be able to help you out there, let me know. I may be able to help with mezzanine funding or bridging finance or even put you in touch with other investors. I am with an investment group that primarily deals with property but we also look at unorthodox investments as a way of hedging and diversifying our portfolios. To help your band out we may be prepared to limit profit as long as I could find a way to hedge against capital loss. Music as you would know is considered a high-risk investment but that doesnt mean its impossible or not viable.
Anyway good luck with it all and I hope you find your success.

Well the Meat Loaf thing is possibly becoming a bit of a nightmare. After telling the booking agent to book and confirm supports, the Loaf's management has decided that they need personal approval of all support acts. Not so bad, I suppose, but then the booking agent rang today to see if we know anyone who hires out PAs. It seems that in every other...

Well I hope your agent can pull it together for you guys, I'm looking forward to hearing you play.
Good luck with it mate and fuck the whiny little losers.
reptar:
How much is not much? Cause if it's not worth the effort then there's no point doing it. You could always just tell immigration he's being a shit about it and get him kicked out of the country, David Irving style. biggrin

So another year well underway. I am broke, so I won't be going to the BDO. Would really have loved to see the Mars Volta and the Dandy Warhols, though not so keen on the rash of rock revival bands. Where will they be in 18 months???

We start our album next week!!!

We are supporting Meatloaf at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre!!!

As daggy as...

What did your keyboardist use? If you were down here we might have been able to lend you something, seeing as my living room looks like a keyboard museum. surreal
reptar:
Revolver are funny about shows, at first they didn't like us but now they do. It helped that some of hte first shows we did there were supporting bands that asked for us to support them. Or maybe the music's getting better biggrin

We had a final rehersal before recording today, everything's sounding great. It should all come together nicely.

So much for a quiet end to the year! My better half gets invited to EVERY Christmas party going, and with my paltry contribution, that ads up to something happening every night for the 2 weeks leading to Chistmas (except maybe 2). Oh well, it's free alcohol and sometimes free food, but it blows out my ciggie budget!
Minimal family commitments this year (a quiet...

Hi Shafted

I know it's a tad late but I would luv to get together with some of the Brissie members.

Do you know if there is another meeting planed in the near future and how did the last one go?

It seems that a few more people have joined since then.

Off to Melbourne this week for gigs ahoy! Can't wait!! If you happen to be in the area, check us out (CharlesFosterKane) It's always nice to catch up with fellow SG/AU folk, as I did briefly with reptar this week, but why is it that I meet a Melbourne member before I meet any Brisbane members? Perhaps we should organise a Brissie drinks...

Holy shit! I used to go see you guys play at the indie temple when it was at rosies....

OK Guys. Having a very quiet weekend. I went and saw Mick Hart, The Peachfish and The 9th Wave last night at The Alley. Both supports were awesome, but I'm not entirely sure if I liked Mick Hart or not - I was very tired by the end of his 1hr 40min set, so I will reserve judgement.
As this will be the last quiet...

OK, finally I can post some dates for gigs (or at least a link to our site where you can check the dates).

http://www.charlesfosterkane.com.au/

We are hoping to get a couple more dates in Melbourne. Our second single is, apparently, being played on the Js, so any SG/AU folks who wish to request it, feel free - it would be appreciated. I think I scared...

They're all kinda 60's guitar pop influenced, and they all have yamaha organs. But yeah they're great friendly people, should be a fun gig!

Halloween was awesome. Our gig at the Healer was huge. Sold out, a great audience, mush merriment, and one of the best shows we have done in recent times. A pity that venue will be no more.

Just found out we have been offered The Church supports in South East Queensland!! We have also had our next Melbourne dates confirmed (but I can't remember what...
