yea yea, so i'm a little sloow in posting this- i got an email from my sister about a week or two ago...its not as detailed as yawfs' friends journal but what she is doing and where she is at is fucking cool
soo, here it be
hola! bienvedidos de ecuador!
everything is going great. i moved in with my family last night and they are very nice even though i have a hard time understanding them, they keep
insisting that my spanish is good but i think they are just trying to be nice.
Its been an incredible trip so far we took a tour of quit on wednesday and then thursday we visited a hacienda which is a huge farm and a rose farm on
the way to patate. flowers are a mojor export of ecuador made me think of you,
haha. then we stayed at this gorgeous hostel in the valley of patate which is
at the foot of the volcaneo tungurawa get it patate foot. anyways we ran
down to the river and went climbing around on the rocks. can you believe it i
went creeking in maj0or tributary of the amazon river? the next day we took a
two hour hike in the andes to a gorgeous water fall, it wasnt easy but it was a lot of fun and worth it. the paths were very narrow and some parts
didnt have a path at all so we all felt adventerous. afterwards we went and
ate fanesca which is a special fish soup for lent so we continued to be
andventurous, haha, but i havent gotten sick yet, knock on wood.
then we arrived in cuenca yesterday at about 6 and met our families, i was so
nervous but they are really nice. remember that girl who sat next to
dad with the black hair that answered all his questions, it was her family from
last year. they are very nice its just still alittle awkward and especially with
only her and her daughter in the house, but im sure ill soon be busy and have
stuff to talk about with them.
but i hope everything at home is good still. im good and heathly minus a
little naseau from the extremely bumpy bus ride im still alive and in good
health. i love you all very very much
