I saw Kung Fu Hustle this weekend. I liked it, but I have one complaint. I've always been a fan of true kung fu movies. I don't mind the occasional wire trick, but generally I like my fu tru. I appreciate the history behind the legends of the wuxen, I even studied long fist for a while, but I'm getting tired of dependence on cgi to tell a compelling story. Just don't buy it. I know that a lot of the stuff in Hustle was done to make fun of the Matrix et al, but my favorite part of the movie was the middle bit, with the three masters. It kind of went downhill from there for me. But that's just me. Still, a kick ass movie. Energy over time, Big Brother.
Aussi, I saw the trailer for this movie.
I am filthy with anticipation.

Kung Fu Hustle was brilliant. So very much better (alas!) than the sorely-disappointing Hitchhiker movie.
And that Night Watch "trilogy" intrigues the hell out of me.
