This is how things happen, usually. I'm going on vacation. In order to go on vacation, I have to work my ass off the week before, because the people who are supposed to fill in for me can't really do that, so I have to try to get everything done that might need to be done while I'm gone. That's an impossible task, of course, since things could come in tomorrow that need to go on friday, so even if I work days and days ahead, jobs could still be due before I get back. And my "replacements" won't do those jobs, so when I get back there will be stacks of jobs that are all ready three or four days late. And then I'll have to work my ass off for about a week trying to unfuck everything that has been so thoroughly fucked.
So. That's why I haven't been posting, or commenting, or much of anything that isn't directly related to database management and/or swearing at my lazy coworkers. Thank you for your consideration.
On top of that, I don't actually take vacations as you might understand them. I take working vacations. I work harder on my vacations than I do in my daily life. It's work I love, so that's okay, but I don't want anyone thinking that I'm going to come back to work next week relaxed or rested or any of that shit. No, I'll be a worn nub, living on a caffeine drip. But that's okay. When I'm a famous writer, I'll look back on this and laugh. And cry. And laugh. But mostly cry.
