My employer unexpectedly asked me if I would be willing to go overseas for a months this fall. To be specific, Kuwait.
I am torn as to what I should do. I have two young kids, and a lovely wife (barbigirl) who I would immensely miss! It's a massive opportunity. I have only worked there for 1 year (to the week), and they are already asking me to do much more than my job entails. This is NOT a bad thing. Typically you need to work at a particular position for 2 years prior to them allowing any move to any other position in the company. However, they've now had me doing 3 different jobs, with another that is in the works, and now this.
The money would be borderline absurd. But it's the opportunity that comes along with it after I get back. I would be managing 6-7 employees. (I am not a manager now).
BUT - I would miss my wife, my two boys (5 & 7), Christmas, the Chicago Marathon that Barbi and I were running this fall, Thanks Giving, New Years, Halloween, and my son's birthday.
It's a lot to give up, even for a short amount of time.
Anyone have any experience with this?
Also, would be missing this on a daily basis!
