So what's new? Election is over with - not the result I was hoping for. bin Laden is dead? I have the day off. Yay?
Last weekend hung out with lilcupcake, cndJames, and of course barbigirl and went and saw Evil Dead on the big screen. Fucking awesome. Loved it. I wish there were more events like that in my town. The cast (minus Bruce Campbell) was there - was a lot of fun.
After we went out for a couple beers with davego - he's a cool guy. Would have liked to have stayed longer, but had to get up at 7 AM to attend a race that I wasn't even participating in. Oh well.
The Canadian Election is done. Fuck me. We are all in trouble. We somehow handed Harper a majority government, which means he can do whatever the fuck he pleases. He has already been bending the rules to his liking with his minority governments, so this should be interesting to say the least.
Question - do you really think they killed Osama bin Laden on Sunday? I usually don't buy into conspiracy theories, but in this particular case I am not sold on the story as presented.
Sometimes 2 plus 2 does not equal 4. Hear me out.
1. Two of America's major allies were distracted with big things happening in their respective countries (Canada - Election, UK - Royal Wedding)
2. Election coming up in America sooner than later, and Obama has not done fantastic in popularity polls of late.
3. Sea burial within 24 hours? Come on, really?
4. Why did they feel they had to respect Islamic tradition for the most hated man in America, but not the other four people that were killed that day?
5. Where are the photos?
6. Obama pokes fun at Trump, saying he can now focus on 'the real issues' of wether Roswell happened, the Moon Landing was fake, and Biggie and Tupac are still alive.
The last point may sound silly, but think about it. The President has just pointed out how silly and far fetched conspiracy theories (and in this case they are) can be. With those recent jabs at Trump in the minds of many Americans, they are less likely to buy into new ones.
So what happened then? Here's some possibilities.
1. They did indeed kill bin Laden that day, and did a poor job of convincing the world otherwise.
2. They assumed he was dead, as he hasn't been seen or heard for a while, and decided now was the time to put the American public at ease, while at the same time, growing their own popularity.
3. They killed, or have known he was dead, for a number of years but did not make this public knowledge. If the public knew he was dead, there would be even more backlash against the war in Afghanistan.
4. They have no clue where he is, if he is still alive, and have put this together in hopes that he will come out of hiding and in doing so, reveal his whereabouts. (Highly unlikely)
So realistically, they probably did kill him. Call me crazy, but I just don't buy it.
Well, anyway... gotta go get me some Kings of Leon tix now.
