So, I am driving in the car today, Paradise City comes on the radio. I start rockin out...as does my wife (and 2 kids in the back seat). I love this song...fucking love it...love this album. I mean Appetite For Destruction is classic, no one can argue that. Has probably my favourite song of all time on it: Sweet Child (beatiful riff, amazing bridges, thoughtful lyrics, and multiple guitar solos that build from the last).
Anyway, I started doing math in my head....oh great...yep high school was good for something. It dawns on me... I was 12 when I bought this album...I guess I should say cassette, and brought it home, put it into the home stereo, played the first song (Welcome to the Jungle), which was quickly followed up by "It's so Easy" and all its cursing glory. I remember my mother yelling at me "If your gonna play this shit with swearing in it, play it in your room" .. well put Mom..
THAT WAS 20 YEARS AGO. I told my wife how long ago it was, she didn't believe me... I started feeling old...there is a good portion of people not even 20 on here... At the same time, I kinda felt "cool"...like "Hey..this shit is classic, and I was wiser beyond my years at 12.. cool" (really I wasn't...everyone was listening to that shit at the time, and still are).
Take me down to the Paradise City where the grass is green and the girls are pretty....oh won't you please take me home...yeahhhh yeahhh...
Fucking best rock and roll group of all time....
