The letter I've been dreading. This is to my supervisor at work because I have to let them know I need some cooperation with them and the VA. The thing is my company has no idea what is wrong with me and I don't want them too. So I wrote this which will hopefully get the point across
John,
I was at the Veteran Affairs hospital today getting checked in with them. Ive been putting this off until I got settled in Minneapolis but now is a good of time as any. I will let you know that I am on disability with the VA for a service connected disability. I was injured in Iraq and was evacuated. I was medically discharged from the Army.
The reason I am disclosing this to you is just to let you know that we will have to work with each other on scheduling. I just want you to be aware that for me to be covered for my disability by the VA I need to conform to their rules. The VA requires that I receive bi-weekly psychotherapy. I have been making most of the required appointments in Allentown but I missed some appointments. The VA has notified me that if I fail to meet their treatment requirements that my disability benefits can be stopped. I can be somewhat flexible on when the appointments are made, and changing them but I must make these appointments. I dont think that bi-weekly sessions will be required for very long though. I will speak to my doctor and see if I can get the appointments made monthly.
Im safe right now because I informed the Allentown clinic that I am in transition to Minneapolis. But I do need to get established here and set up with the VA as soon as possible.
