I have been in my profession with the same company for almost 28 years. I was planning on sticking around for another 4 years, for a few reasons including increasing my pension. However, things have become stale for me and due to circumstances well beyond my control, I feel like I am on a sinking ship.
There are some reasons to stick around yet. Guaranteed income and increasing pension are the biggest reasons. I will admit I am curious as to how fast this ship sinks and what will happen as it does. As well, I had decided to finally put down roots and stay where I am living now. This company, and job, is not what it was when I began. It has changed in so many ways, and they aren't good changes.
There are reasons to go. I am tired of the BS, tired of the extent of the requirement for Political Correctness, tired of the extra work I have to do that goes beyond my job. There is another job, same profession, that I could walk into and increase my earnings. That job would allow me to do what I love without all the extra crap.
This other job would require me to move, though. Would the extra income for a few years balance with the extra pension of staying where I am?
If I am to move on, now is the time to decide. So many "what ifs" :(
