i went to the ocean tonight. i haven't been there in quite a while. it was very quiet there; only the oscillations of waves and a distant foghorn breaking the silence. there a was light fog over the water, but not enough to cover the golden gate bridge. in the distance i could see the two lights that mark the entrance to the bay.
i've lived here for almost 6 years now, and every once in a while i find it cathartic to go to the ocean. i've had a long weekend on what is turning out to be a long year. my mind is within the vice of some difficult decisions, both of an internal and external nature. life has been a pendulum as of late, swinging me between some beautiful heights and the confines of confusion.
while i was in japan, i bought a print from a Buddhist Temple. it says, "nichi nichi kore koujitsu", or, "whatever come happen, i will carry out my steady life." and at this point in my life, i am finding these words to be very profound.
