"Man has gone out to explore other worlds and other civilizations without having explored his own labyrinth of dark passages and secret chambers, and without finding what lies behind doorways that he himself has sealed."
---- From "Solaris" by Stanislaw Lem
i'm searching for a way to forget everything i've ever known. i've decided in doing this i will be able to fully grasp all the life that is swimming around me. i spend too much time ignoring the details in the mad search for destination. so tonight, as i turn on my mixer and speakers, flip through rows of records, i will never have spun before, i will not understand filter and pitch. my mind will not find its safety in the shallow pools of repetition. the only memory that shall remain is on the cellular level -- neurons and muscles. the thought process will have to fight for new connections to keep the rotation from falling apart. every distinct level of energy must be recognized, and the layers of sound carefully pulled apart, searching for the rare fruit within the pomengranate. then, perhaps, i will find the muse that waits in hiding to renew her lust upon my return, and the consummation will release the vital essence of existence, the vast landscapes of the unknown.
